EVALUATION OF TECHNOLOGICAL PLASTICITY OF MASTIC ASPHALT MIXTURES, DETERMINED BY DIFFERENT METHODS
DOI: 10.33868/0365-8392-2025-1-282-14-22
Abstract. Mastic asphalt concrete is a type of traditional hot asphalt concrete, which, due to the peculiarities of its com-position, is characterised by increased technological plasticity and the possibility of laying in the road surface without compaction. The paper considers the features of quality indicators used to assess the properties of mastic asphalt mix-tures and asphalt concrete. A classification of methods for assessing the technological plasticity of mastic asphalt mix-tures is given. The results of laboratory assessment of the technological plasticity of mastic asphalt mixtures are pre-sented using: the Luer method; the method based on determining the depth of immersion of the test rod; the method based on determining the spreading of the mixture under its own weight and the method based on determining the torque during mixing of the mixture. The features of the methods used in the work are considered, their advantages and disadvantages are evaluated. Based on the analysis of data from literature and regulatory sources, criteria for assessing the plasticity of mastic mixtures determined by the methods used in this work were adopted Based on the experimentally obtained results of assessing the technological plasticity determined by different methods, the closeness of the obtained plasticity values was established, which may indicate the interchangeability of the considered methods for assessing the quality of mastic asphalt mixtures. Taking into account the peculiarities of the methods used in the work and their ad-vantages, in order to select an acceptable method for assessing the technological plasticity of mastic mixtures and its further standardisation in the domestic road industry, it is proposed to use the Luer method for operational control of the quality of mastic mixtures at the plant and the method based on the determination of torque for selecting the com-position of mixtures and establishing the optimal temperature conditions for the preparation of mastic mixtures.
