ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF VEHICLES AND ENERGY-EFFICIENT DRIVING
DOI: 10.33868/0365-8392-2022-4-272-59-62

Abstract. The article presents an analysis of the main regulatory requirements of the European Union and Ukraine in the field of energy efficiency of vehicles. It discusses the fiscal methods through which the European Union limits greenhouse gas emissions and achieves improvements in the energy efficiency of vehicles. Current aspects of vehicle energy efficiency are analyzed in the context of military aggression and reducing dependence on imported energy resources as a component of Ukraine’s national security. The significance of energy efficiency and its role in reducing energy costs, particularly in the transport sector, is explained. The main measures of state policy aimed at increas-ing energy efficiency are outlined, particularly through fuel consumption standards and the use of innovative tech-nologies. Specifically, methodological recommendations for standardizing fuel consumption, electrical energy, lubri-cants, and other operational materials for vehicles and equipment meet the needs of entities in planning, account-ing, control, reporting, and justifying fuel costs, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency. A review of specific technical and design solutions for vehicles that affect fuel consumption has been con-ducted. The results of the assessment indicated the importance of energy-efficient driving, which can reduce fuel consumption by 25%, an important factor not only for savings but also for ensuring the country’s energy security. Recommendations for improving driving style, technical maintenance, and the use of alternative energy sources that reduce dependence on fossil fuels are provided. The article emphasizes that energy-efficient vehicle management is an important component of economic security and competitiveness of enterprises and organizations in wartime.
Keywords: energy efficiency, fuel consumption.
