Abstract. The article analyzes accidents involving wheeled vehicles, the impact of compliance of wheeled vehicle compo-nents with technical requrements on the safety of operation of vehicles on which such components are used. The segment of the spare parts market is considered depending on the participation of vehicle manufacturers in their design and production. The article presents the results of statistical processing of expert assessments of car owners, rep-resentatives of car service and specialists in the field of spare parts sales in Ukraine concerning the use of these spare parts, which belong to different segments, throughout the life cycle of an average wheeled vehicle. The international legal framework for technical regulation in the field of spare parts for vehicles, including the main provisions of the 1998 Global Agreement and the 1958 Geneva Agreement is considered. The results of the analysis of the requirements of international technical regulations that establish requirements for spare parts of vehicles when as-sessing their compliance are presented. In connection with the trends in changes in the design of modern vehicles, based on the analysis carried out, recommen-dations are given regarding the improvement of such requirements. Keywords: Spare parts for wheeled vehicles, road traffic accidents, safety, conformity assessment, UN regulation, global technical regulation, technical regulation.
